Torres Lets Down Rapids

Colorado Rapids have been unable to get the best out of striker Gabriel Torres this campaign. They seem to have understood that the poor run of form has to do with the fitness of the player. A recent scan showed that the player could be on the verge of suffering a muscle damage, which will likely to force him out for several weeks. Hence, the club are looking to give him some time off and hopes that he recovers from the injury.

Colorado Rapids have confirmed that the striker will miss the next three matches against the likes of Houston Dynamo, Monreal impact, and Chicago Fire. However, club coach Pablo Mastroeni is not happy with the fact that the striker has been called up for international duty during this period. After the recent 2-1 defeat at the hands of Real Salt Lake, Pablo Mastroeni said that he was not happy with performances of the striker, Torres. However, later scans revealed that the player has suffered from extensive effort in the first few matches of the season.

Torres could be back in action for Colorado Rapids only against FC Dallas – in June. The coach has revealed that the club are considering providing a specific training regime for the player in order to help him recover.

“It’s the kind of thing that could easily lead to an injury, and rather than risk that, we’d like to take the time to build him back up to full strength. Gaby is an incredibly important part of this team, a player who is in our plans for this season and years to come. In some muscle screening, we found a lot of propensity for increased muscle damage. So we feel like it’s a good time before he heads off for Panama to get him on a program and integrate him back into the team slowly,” said Mastroeni.
