KANSAS STRENGTHEN

Sporting Kansas City have strengthened their midfield by bringing in Spaniard Antonio Dovale just ahead of the new MLS season. A total of eight international sports are available for Kansas City and they have used five of them so far. He is one of the players to have come through at the Barcelona youth academy, which is well-known as one of the best in the world. He played along with the likes of Giovanni Dos Santos, Bojan Krkic, and Thiago Alcantara during his youth days. Hence, this is a major coup for the club ahead of the new season.

The club has already been in one match of this new season. However, it ended in a 1-0 defeat against Seattle Sounders. The club will be hoping to put behind this poor start by revelling in the signing of Dovale. He has been playing in the top division of Spanish football since the 2011-12 season when his Celta de Vigo team managed to get promoted into the la Liga. He joined the club when they were playing in the second division. Sporting manager Peter Vermes praised the signing of the Spaniard by saying that his versatility will be key to the success of the club this campaign.

Dovale can play at central midfield and left back.

“We are happy to be able to add a player of his quality to our roster. He can play multiple positions within our system, and we hope that we can help him to adapt to our team and to Major League Soccer as quickly as possible,” said the club manager. “I am very excited to be in Kansas City. Sporting KC is a very ambitious and successful club and I look forward to helping them achieve their goals. My motivation is high to come here and improve as a player and help this club any way possible,” said Dovale.
