Just when it seemed that the team was on the course of recovering from the loss against Columbus Crew in the previous match, Lee Nguyen came up with a goal with six minutes of normal time remaining. The home team were unable to get back in the few remaining minutes. As a result, the club will have to wait one more weekend in order to get the first win since the international break.
After making a strong start to the campaign, Portland Timbers would have been expecting to maintain their run going. Home games are crucial for the team, and the two home games in the first few weeks of the season were a major factor in preserving the advantage. Ahead of next month’s CONCACAF Under-20 Championship in Costa Rica, which serves as the continent’s qualifying tournament for this summer’s under-20 World Cup, the United States Under-20 National team has called up 23 players to the team’s preparatory camp at SubHub Center in Carson, California.
Atlanta United’s 20-year old defender, Miles Robinson, New York City FC midfielder, Jonathan Lewis and Portland Timber striker, Jeremy Ebobisse who were the second, third and fourth overall selection in Friday’s MLS SuperDraft have all been named in the roster. They joined 10 other MLS players in the camp, which will run from January 15-23, the day that MLS teams are allowed to begin reporting for preseason.
Real Salt Lake leads the way with three players on the roster in defender, Justen Glad, midfielder Danny Acosta and Forward Sebastian Saucedo. Recent LA Galaxy Homegrown Player signing, Hugo Arellano, Orlando City’s defender Tommy Redding, Sporting Kansas City center back Erik Palmer-brown, Philadelphia Union defender Austin Trusty, FC Dallas midfielder Tyler Adams and Atlanta United forward Brandon Vazquez are also on the list. FC Dallas achieved something of major significance under the regime of Oscar Pareja after managing success at the U.S. Open Cup.
The team has not been successful in this competition since winning the title back in 1997. They have managed to finish as runners-up on two occasions in 2005 and 2007. It was third time lucky for the team after they managed to beat New England Revolution 4-2 in the final. Manager Oscar Pareja claimed that he is extremely happy to have achieved this significant victory, but he is now looking to add more titles to FC Dallas’ cabinet.
It has been a tough road to the final for FC Dallas, as they have had to beat the likes of Houston Dynamo and LA Galaxy on the way to the final. However, it looked like there were more difficult obstacles along the way after New England Revolution took the lead in the sixth minute throughAgudelo. A team that has demonstrated such fight to reach the final was not going to give up so easily, and they were back level quite quickly throughUrruti. This goal proved to be the impetus for Dallas to take a stranglehold on the game. Goals from Hedges, Diaz, and Urruti helped them establish a 4-1 lead before Agudelo’s second goal in the 73rd minute provided a few scares.

MLS football player Bradley Wright-Phillips provided two important goals that ensured New York Red Bulls moved past Montreal Impact 3-1 on Saturday night.
The victory ensured Red Bulls are two points behind neighbours New York City at the top of the Eastern conference of the Major League Soccer.
Montreal started the goal scoring in the 21st minute when Luciano Piatti got his 13th of the season. Red Bulls didn’t allow their opponents savour the moment when they equalized through Wright-Phillips barely a minute later. Just before the first half break, Wright-Philips added another in the 41st minute. Sean Davis provided two assist for Wright-Phillips but he scored his own in the 46th minute, sealing the fate of Impact. Davis was later given a hard tackle by Impact defender Ambroise Oyongo, earning him a red card
After the game, Wright-Phillips score of his achievement. “It’s definitely a proud moment, you know, the name associated with that record before, I shouldn’t even be in that category. Somehow by the grace of God I’m in it and I’m going to see how many I can get and I just have to thank my team-mates and everyone that’s helped me to get this record. I can only be thankful,” the player said. Red Bulls coach Denis Hamlett spoke happily about the feat, adding that “Brad’s a great guy.”

Former Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba scored an injury-time winner over the weekend as Montreal Impact defeat Los Angeles Galaxy 3-2.
The keenly-contested match which was played on Saturday saw the Ivorian’s goal in the fourth minute of injury time when LA Galaxy goalkeeper Brian Rowe made a mistake by allowing the striker’s long range hit slip through this hands. The victory ensured Impact maintained their top spot in the MLS’ Eastern Conference standings.
Giovani Dos Santos had fired Los Angeles into the lead just eight minutes into the much awaited encounter upon capitalizing on a slip from Maxim Tissot. The Mexican international did a simple tap in that sent the fans into jubilation before Impact hit back. Impact hit back after 26 minutes though a counter attack as Dominic Oduro moved the ball almost the entire field before releasing a well timed pass to Ignacio Piatti who sent the ball to the back of the net.
Impact then took the lead through a solo effort from Lucas Ontivero but LA Galaxy responded within two minutes when Mike Magee scored after receiving a cross from former Liverpool Skipper, Steven Gerrard. The equalizer made the game set for a share of the points until Rowe’s late gaffe through which Drogba gave Impact the victory.
